Caterpillar Ride

A Formidable History

This caterpillar ride is estimated to have been made in the 1920’s. As the cars begin to run around the track, a canopy slowly covers each car.

Once the canopies are completely lowered, the train looks like a caterpillar as it moves along the undulating track. Many ride owners also installed high-powered fans along the track that would shoot a blast of air into the cars in order to surprise the riders.

The opportunity to take a ride in total darkness attracted many curious visitors.
